UNWTO Tourism Start-up Competition in Wakalua

Last Monday, the 20th of January took place the final of the second UNWTO Tourism Start-up Competition in Wakalua, a global innovation hub for tourism in Madrid.

This event gathered start-ups from different countries such as Mexico, Spain, Russia, Portugal or Romania, who introduced their innovation solutions in the field of tourism. Each one, had the opportunity in a 5 minutes pitch to present his solution on one of the several categories: Smart mobility, Disruptive Hospitality, Innovative Tourism Solutions, Deep Tech, Rural Development, Smart Destinations or Sustainability. After the start-up pitches, the winners where announced by the jury formed by representatives of UNWTO, Amadeus, Telefonica, Distrito Digital Valencia, Intu Costa del Sol, Globalia, Turismo de Portugal and IE Africa Center.

At the end of the event we had the opportunity to talk with the start-ups to know more about their projects and introduce them the CAST project and the next workshop which is going to take place in Brandenburg (Germany): Investment Readiness Workshop on March 2020.
